Psi Chi: The International Honor Society

Psi Chi (pronounced “sigh-kye”) is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 with two primary purposes:

1) to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship, and
2) to advance the science of psychology.

Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in psychology, and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). Through membership in Psi Chi, students gain a sense of community with others in psychology and an identification with the discipline. Psi Chi sponsors programs at regional and national psychological association meetings. Members who attend these programs benefit from the opportunity to meet leading psychologists and students from other chapters.

Membership in Psi Chi is an earned lifetime honor. Your membership is preserved at the Psi Chi International Office and can be included on graduate school and employment applications. When you are inducted into Psi Chi, you are presented with a membership certificate suitable for framing and a membership card. You are also eligible to wear Psi Chi emblems including key pins, charms, label pins, etc. A quarterly newsletter is furnished to the chapter for you to pick up free of charge at our local chapter office. Psi Chi requires a one-time registration fee of $65.00.
