Summary of Research Interests

I study the role of basic motivational and cognitive processes in understanding and treating cigarette smoking and ADHD.  These two seemingly disparate areas have strong conceptual, neurobiological, and clinical ties.  Most of our current work is focused on understanding and enhancing treatment mechanisms for cigarette smoking, including a large trial evaluating the degree to which an easily implemented extinction-based approach can improve clinical response to varenicline.
